Recreating an iconic surfboard with Barry Snyder
Recently shaper Barry Snyder set out to recreate a board first ridden at Sunset Beach and showcased on the first cover of Surfer Magazine published in the early 1960′s. The board Barry replicated was a 10’10” Greg Noll/Jose Angel big-wave gun.
Barry Snyder has been shaping for over 30 years. He got his start shaping under Dick Brewer in Oceanside, CA working under fellow master shaper Gary Linden. The photos below are the tribute board Barry created.
Shaper: Barry Snyder
Size: 10’10”
Description: “Its an Greg Noll/Jose Angel tribute board. I have been obsessed with the 10’10″ Jose Angel gun pictured in Greg Noll’s surfboard book. Just love the lines and the color job. So I set out to make a tribute board. I replicated the board ridden at Sunset on the first cover of Surfer Magazine.”
