Mark Healey’s Ron Meeks 9’8” Puerto Escondido Gun
Mark Healey’s Ron Meeks 9’8” Puerto Escondido Gun
By now we have all seen the footage of Mark Healey surfing a massive wall at Puerto Escondido, Mexico a few days ago but in case you haven’t yet here it is:
Some are calling it the biggest wave ever paddled into at Puerto Escondido. Once you have seen it for your self its hard if at all to dispute that it wasn’t. Mark was riding a 9’8” shaped by Hawaiian board maker Ron Meeks. A shaper from the island of Oahu who has been making boards for a lot of underground Hawaii chargers, including Dave Wassel for some time now. Ron prides himself in hand shaping each board, something he points out is a bit of a dying tradition. We at The Surfboard Project wholeheartedly agree with Ron. Mark Healey broke the 9’8” the day after catching that wave.
Shaper: Ron Meeks
Description: Mark Healey’s 9’8” Gun he rode on what people are calling the biggest wave ever paddled into at Puerto Escondido on May 3, 2015.
